Inogen Rove 6™
Powerfully Portable
Portable oxygen concentrators are small, lightweight devices that provide you with medical-grade oxygen while you are at home or travelling. Instead of using heavy tanks that need refills, these machines pull in the air around you and filter it to deliver a concentrated pulse of oxygen each time you inhale. This technology is designed to be quiet and easy to carry, helping you stay active and enjoy your daily routine.
Battery life varies depending on the specific model, the type of battery used, and the chosen flow setting. The Inogen Rove 6™ offers up to 6 hours and 15 minutes of run time with a standard battery and up to 12 hours and 45 minutes when using an extended battery at flow setting 1. The Inogen Rove 4™ provides up to 3.00 hours of run time with a standard battery and up to 5.75 hours with an extended battery at flow setting 1. Federal law requires passengers traveling with a POC to bring an adequate number of fully charged batteries into the cabin that will power the POC for no less than 150% of the expected maximum flight duration.
These devices are designed for patients who require supplemental oxygen therapy on a prescriptive basis. They are particularly beneficial for individuals with lung conditions like COPD who experience breathlessness and need reliable oxygen support while maintaining an active lifestyle. To use a portable system, a patient must be capable of spontaneous breathing and able to inhale and exhale without the help of a machine. However, these devices are not intended for pediatric use, are not for use by tracheostomised patients, and are not designed to be life-sustaining or life-supporting.
Inogen portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) work by pulling in the surrounding air and separating the nitrogen to deliver concentrated, medical-grade oxygen. The air we breathe consists of roughly 21% oxygen; these machines filter it to deliver a concentration of 85-95% pure oxygen. Most models use Intelligent Delivery Technology®, which features a state-of-the-art sensor that detects the exact moment a patient begins to inhale, delivering a pulse dose of oxygen to match their breathing rate.
Yes, all Inogen portable systems meet FAA acceptance criteria for carriage and use onboard aircraft. They are designed to be compact and travel-friendly, often being described as roughly the height of a paperback book.
The devices are designed to be lightweight and easy to carry to support mobility. The Inogen Rove 4™ is the lightest 4-setting model on the market, weighing only 2.9 lbs. when used with a standard battery. The Inogen Rove 6™ is also compact, weighing 4.8 lbs. with its standard battery.
Yes, Inogen portable oxygen concentrators are available by prescription (Rx) only. A doctor must provide a prescription stating that you require supplemental oxygen or have a severe lung disease, and medical documentation must show that you are mobile in your home and would benefit from a portable system.
The Inogen Rove family is engineered for quiet operation to minimize disturbance. The operating volume for both the Rove 4 and Rove 6 is approximately 39 dBA at flow setting 2, which allows users to watch TV or visit with friends with little noise interference.
A POC may be covered by Medicare or private insurance as an alternative to traditional oxygen tanks. Inogen offers 5-Star Affordable Access Options, which include checking insurance eligibility, using HSA/FSA funds, flexible financing, and cash pay discounts.
