Inogen One G4: Innovative Oxygen Just Got Better

Innovative Oxygen Just Got Better

Over the past 15 years, the oxygen therapy market has been revolutionized through product innovations in portability.  Inogen was one of the first to introduce a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) that eliminated the need for unwieldy oxygen tanks.  Able to convert room air to almost pure oxygen, the Inogen One was smaller and lighter weight than a standard oxygen concentrator and easier to handle than tanks.  Because it was powered by a rechargeable battery as well as by plugging it in to a standard electrical outlet, you now had the freedom to go anywhere, anytime.  No more waiting for oxygen tank or liquid oxygen deliveries!

The Inogen One G4 Arrives

inogen one g4 portable oxygen concentratorInogen is continuing its commitment to innovation in oxygen delivery by introducing the fourth generation in its line of POCs: the unbelievably compact Inogen One G4.  Now the smallest and lightest POC available with 1-3 settings, the Inogen One G4 still employs a proprietary intelligent oxygen delivery design that allows the unit to adapt to your oxygen needs.  With both a shoulder strap and belt loop option and weighing in at a mere 2.8 pounds, the Inogen One G4 brings portability to a whole new level.

Perhaps most importantly, the Inogen One has the proven capability to provide oxygen for both daytime and nighttime use.  Clinical studies verify that the proprietary intelligent oxygen delivery design as well as the highly sensitive breath detection of the Inogen One line of POCs make it a viable option for 24/7 use.

Inogen is a powerful trailblazer in oxygen technology with a full line of products:  The Inogen At Home stationary concentrator; the Inogen One G2 POC with 1-6 settings; and the smaller, lighter Inogen One G3 with 1-5 settings, its best-selling POC.

Portability is the Key

We know that physical activity is a key factor in staying healthy and happy.  This is even more important to the COPD patient, where activity can slow the progression of the disease and help combat other commonly associated conditions like heart disease, arthritis, and depression.  The ultra-small, ultra-lightweight Inogen One G4 gives you the freedom of movement you need to have the healthy lifestyle you deserve.

With the Inogen One G4, you can keep moving, continue participating, and never stop smiling!

What is the maximum flow of the G4?
What is the cost, total and monthly including accessories?
    I have excellent credit.
This will be used by my wife, 81 years old and on medicare.

    1. Web Admin Web Admin says:

Sig, currently the max flow for the Inogen One G4 is a flow setting of 3. You can view the cost of the different packages here: http://www.inogen.com/products/g4-systems/. Please call us at 1-800-678-5572 if you have any questions.

I bought the Inogen G3 a couple of years ago, but it is too heavy for me and I have hardly used it.

Is it possible to return the G3 for a G4?

Robert, I would call and speak with your oxygen specialist so they can go over all of your options. The Inogen One G4 weighs only 2.8 pounds. Please take a look at all the specs – http://www.inogen.com/product/g4-three-year-warranty-system/

    3. Web Admin Web Admin says:

The Inogen One G4 has a maximum flow setting of 3. You can look over the system at – http://www.inogen.com/products/g4-systems/.

Do you have a continuous flow Portable? Pulse flow does not detect my wife's breathing on a steady basis; thus beeping is a result not appreciated in doctor's offiices or in church.

    1. Web Admin Web Admin says:

Marvin, we do not offer a continuous flow portable oxygen concentrator, but we have developed new pulse dose technology. The Inogen One is designed to be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The technology in each Inogen One is effective at providing the necessary oxygen for most ambulatory patients during all phases of daily activity and during sleep.

  3. Deborah Pinner says:

My mother is a mouth breather. She does not breath through her nose when she is under any sort of exertion. How does the G4 sense the breathing for those that are mouth breathers?

    1. Web Admin Web Admin says:

As long as her nose is not blocked the Inogen One G4 will deliver oxygen to her.

  4. Ali says:

It is a very interesting device, however can you please shed light on; how does the Inogen G4 compare to the Inogen G3 which could provide up to 1050 ml/min of 90% oxygen and 210ml/min per flow setting?

I have tried to look everywhere for this information but cannot seem to find it..

    1. Web Admin Web Admin says:

The Inogen One G4 is smaller, more lightweight, and has fewer settings than the Inogen One G3. Both portable concentrators deliver the same high concentration of medical grade oxygen at the same volume per setting: 210 ml/minute. However, the maximum output of the Inogen One G4 is 630 ml/minute (3 settings) and the Inogen One G3 is 1050 ml/minute (5 settings). You get the same performance out of both portable concentrators; if your doctor has prescribed a supplemental oxygen setting of 1, 2, or 3, either model should work for you. Have a great day.

I have the G4 and love it except for the fact that we need a backpack. Cannot bend over without it hitting whatever it is I am working on. I have the strap and put it across my body in the back and that also does not work. A normal backpack does not work either, it is to big and does not have the mesh that is needed for air flow. Please let me know when you will be getting a backpack made for this model. It is seriously limiting what I am able to do for myself.

    1. Leah says:

I just obtained my G4 and the current case has loop on the back of the case so that it can be put on a belt to wear around the waist, that might work.

    2. Rex says:

I am interested in a Backpack for my G4 as well. No brained purchase for me if they offered it.

Any plans for a backpack, Inogen?

      1. Inogen Inogen says:

Hi Rex, Thank you for suggestion. I will bring the idea to our product development team so that they can investigate further.

  6. Nancy says:

I just ordered my husband's 2nd Inogen unit, the G4. Our first unit was bought nearly 8 years ago and has been wonderful. It is still working fine but, so heavy, we decided to go with this one. These units are a Blessing. Quality of life is improved immensely with the freedom you have with these units. My wish would be that anyone, dependent on oxygen concentrators, would be able to use one of these Inogen units.

    1. Inogen Inogen says:

Hi Nancy, Thank you for the kind words!

  7. Malcolm Surl says:

I am thinking of buying a g4 to supplement my less portable g3 but the loudness of the beeps on start-up is enough to wake the dead let alone a sleeping spouse !
Is there a way of reducing the beep volume please ?

    1. Inogen Inogen says:

Hi Malcolm, Although there is no way to reduce the sound of the beep upon start-up, most patients are on oxygen therapy 24/7 which means there is little to no reason for you to turn off and on your G4.
